How To Create A FTP Account in cPanel
You can create a separate FTP account for your web developers so you do not need to give them your primary cPanel user/pass to login and upload content. This simple tutorial will walk you through doing just that!
STEP 1: Login to cPanel and click on FTP Accounts
STEP 2: Choose a username. Use the Password Generator and insert. Save that to give to your developer. Of importance is the Directory. The directory, if you want them to have direct access to the website files, backspace what is there and put: public_html. Then click on Create FTP Account.
IMPORTANT, remember to set the Directory to public_html for the entire website. Otherwise it will create a directory off the username with no content in it!
STEP 3: Once the account is created you can later delete, change password and other options.
STEP 4: Once the FTP account is created, it will look a little different when you configure in a FTP client. The 'username" will be: username@YOUR-DOMAIN.com. So it will look like an email address. Then the password you chose. The FTP hostname can 'usually' be ftp.YOURDOMAIN.com but on certain nodes here at NameHero additional protections are in place and you may have to inquire with chat or open a ticket for the correct ftp hostname to use. The port will be 21 via FTPS explicit.
