# How To Set A Custom Seed On Your Minecraft Server

Unique, case-sensitive values known as "seeds" specify the exact type of world to load into the game. There are a lot of possible seeds because the landscape in Minecraft is generated at random. In this article we will go over how to set a custom seed on your Minecraft server.

**Step 1:** Go to your [NameHero Client Area](https://www.namehero.com/clientarea.php) and stop your Minecraft server.

**Step 2:** Head over to the **Advanced Game Panel** by clicking the blue button as seen in the screenshot above within the NameHero Client Area. Here you will be accessing the **Files** tab to locate the server.properties file.

**Step 3**: Once opening the server.properties file, navigate down until you find the **level-seed** line (29). Here you will input your custom world seed. After doing so, you can save this file and start your server.
