# How To Set A Password On Your Soulmask Server

Setting a password on a Soulmask server empowers administrators to manage access, ensuring that only trusted friends or community members can join. This creates a more private and controlled gameplay environment. With a password in place, administrators can customize the gameplay experience without the concern of unwanted players causing disruptions. Additionally, a password helps prevent griefing or trolling by unauthorized users, safeguarding the server and its players from malicious activities.

**Step 1:** Go to your [NameHero Client Area](https://www.namehero.com/clientarea.php) and head over to the **Advanced Game Panel** by clicking the blue button as seen in the screenshot within the NameHero Client Area. Here you will be accessing the **Startup** tab**.**

​**Step 2:** Once on the Startup page, scroll down towards the bottom until you find the **Server Password** variable. Here you will create your server password.

**Step 3:** Restart your server! Now you have a password set on your Soulmask server!
