How To Update A Minecraft Bedrock Server

Updating your Minecraft bedrock server is crucial to ensure that you are able to connect and play on your server when a new update gets pushed. In this article we will go over the steps on how to update your Minecraft bedrock server to ensure its on the latest version.

Step 1: Go to your NameHero Client Area and head over to the Advanced Game Panel by clicking the blue button as seen in the screenshot within the NameHero Client Area.

Step 2: Once in the Advanced Game Panel, head to the backups tab and create a backup. This is to ensure if anything is to go wrong or any issues occur we have a safe backup to restore from.

Step 3: Once your backup is created, head over to the Minecraft Bedrock Server Download and download the Linux version. Once downloaded, extract this zip file to a safe location / folder.

Step 4: We will be using a SFTP client to download files from the server to our local machine. You can follow our guide here.

Step 5: Once we have a SFTP client installed and are connected to our Minecraft server, we will want to download the Worlds folder and server.properties file (And plugins if you have this folder) and save it to our local machine.

Step 6: After downloading these 2 files, we can delete all files and folders from the server.

Step 7: After deleting all files from the server, the servers files should now show empty in our SFTP client (on the right side). If this is not showing empty, you can refresh or reconnect.

Step 8: Now that we have everything deleted on the server, we will want to move everything from the unzipped Minecraft Bedrock server download folder to the server in our SFTP client.

Step 9: After all of these files are transferred to the server, We will also want to transfer over the world files / folder, server.properties file and plugins folder (if you have one) from our pc to the server.

Step 10: Once this is completed, now head back to the files tab in the Advanced Game Panel. Right click any file, select permissions and change this to 755 and update.

Step 11: Now you can start up your server and enjoy the latest version!
