How To Automatically Restart Your Game Server

When your Game server has been running for an extended period of time, sometimes processes and other server data end up overusing its RAM. When your server runs out of RAM, you may start experiencing lag frequently, or even crashes. However, this can easily be resolved by restarting your server regularly.

Step 1: Go to your NameHero Client Area and head over to the Advanced Game Panel by clicking the blue button as seen in the screenshot within the NameHero Client Area. Here you will be accessing the Schedules tab**.**

**Step 2:** In the schedule tab, you will see the Create schedule button in the bottom right. Press that button to open the Create schedule menu. Here we will be creating a name for the scheduled task and setting up how frequently we would like this task to happen.

Note: For the scheduled task time, the panel uses UTC as the time zone. You can see what time it is for UTC here. Another link to be very useful on how to set up the scheduled time is crontab guru. This will show you what to input for the time fields above.

Example: I want my daily restart to be every day at 4:00am UTC (12am EST) I would enter this.

**Step 3:** After creating the schedule, You will now see your task in the schedule tab. please click on your task and select new task

Step 4: In this menu, you are able to do things like restarts, stop and start, terminate the sever or send custom commands for a specific game. For this article we will be sticking with restart. For the action tab, click the dropdown and select send power action. After selecting this, you will see another option below called payload. Here we will be clicking the dropdown and selecting restart the server.

**Step 5**: Click Create Task and you are done! You have now created a restart task.
