Developer Access to your Web Hosting
There are two ways to give access to your developer to help you with your website.
Install the Plugin 'Temporary Login without Password':
2. On once installed and activated, click on the link for Temporary Login under the users section and click Create New:
Enter in your developers email address and role you wish to give them and duration of access. (duration is modifiable)
Your new user will now have a custom link you can send to them so they have access to your WordPress account. If at any time you need to resend the link or change it or revoke it, you can now manage it directly from this menu!
When the developer logs in, it will clearly show they have temporary access. You are done!
Login to your cPanel and find the FTP Accounts icon.
Give the developer a username (Login in), Choose the domain you wish to give them access to. (usually your primary domain). Use the Password generator to give a good password and save it so you can send it to them. Of importance, the FTP accounts wizard will 'auto populate' the ftp directory. You can backspace that to just be /public_html directory! This will give them the access they need. If the domain is in a different directory specify it here! Otherwise the defaults will be entered in and nothing will be in that directory when they login!
Once added you will notice the 'username' is: user@domain.com! That's important to note! You can change the password or delete it from this menu in the future.
Simple FTP login information to provide to your developer! (FileZilla).
On the 'first login' you will get a certificate notice asking if you want to proceed. You want to click the button at the bottom and click ok! You won't be prompted for this in the future!
