How To Add Records for A Domain Registered with CloudFlare

Have you registered your domain name with Cloudflare and now need to point it at your account on NameHero? This tutorial will show you how and what to enter in the DNS to make your website work with your NameHero account.

STEP 1: Login to your cPanel to collect the information you will need. Then click on Zone Editor.

STEP 2: Now click manage next to your domain.

STEP 3: Sort and copy all the information you see so you can duplicate it in CloudFlare. A / CNAME / MX / TXT

Please note, some TXT records are quite long, like the dkim key. In Cloudflare that will all be on a single line. cPanel splits it into two entries. Cloudflare uses a single record so when you copy the second part, just add it behind the first part in Cloudflare. It may not make sense upon reading, but once you go and add it into Cloudflare DNS it will be more clear.

STEP 4: Login to Cloudflare: https://cloudflare.com/login

STEP 5: Search for your domain or if it listed, click on it for additional options.

STEP 6: Click on Add Record. For A records select A. You can put an @ for Name. Then the IPv4 IP addresses provided to you. For now, turn off Proxy. Then hit save at the bottom and move on to your other records.

Adding a 'separate' A record for 'mail' is advisable since later you might enable the proxy on your domain and having a routable mail.yourdomain will be beneficial for mail delivery.

After we added the A record above, we now add a MX record so mail is routed to mail.yourdomain.

Add your SPF record...

STEP 7: After you have added all your records into Cloudflare, it's time to get your local SSL installed for your domain! Login to cPanel and find the SSL/Status icon.

STEP 8: Now click on Run AutoSSL. The task can take about 10-30 minutes to complete.

After it completes, it should display very similar to what you see below... if it continues to have issues, contact NameHero support and we can investigate for you!

That's it! Now your newly registered domain in Cloudflare is actively pointing your domain at your account on NameHero! If you have any issues or problems, please feel free to reach out to us so we can assist you! We are here 24x7x365!
