How To Change The Gamemode On Your Rust Server

Rust servers offer various gamemodes for users to choose from. These gamemodes are modifications of the standard Rust gameplay, incorporating restrictions or quality-of-life enhancements to make the game either more difficult or more accessible. This allows for a range of experiences, from enjoyable and relaxed to tense and challenging, catering to any gameplay preferences users might have on their servers.

Note: Changing the gamemode on a Rust server will completely reset player data. To preserve player inventories, avoid switching gamemodes mid-wipe.

Step 1: Go to your NameHero Client Area and head over to the Advanced Game Panel by clicking the blue button as seen in the screenshot within the NameHero Client Area. Here you will be accessing the Startup.

Step 2: In the Startup tab, scroll down until you find the Additional Arguments section. In here you will be entering a command.

Step 3: Enter +server.gamemode <name> using the desired gamemode from the chart below.

Gamemode | Description |
vanilla | Default Rust gameplay with no changes. |
survival | Vanilla, with a different label. The name set must be empty with quotes: "" To show. |
softcore | Vanilla gameplay but with difficulty changes to make the game easier. Such as increased team size (4) and convenient respawns. |
hardcore | Vanilla gameplay but with many limited features, providing a more challenging experience. |

Step 4: Restart your server!
